On March 13, 624 A.D., the Muslims of Medina fought the pagans of Mecca and defeated the larger and better equipped army. The Medinite Muslims were 313 and the Meccan pagans were more than a thousand. Names of influential pagans who would die in this battle were revealed to Muhammad (PBUH) the night before the battle. He spent the entire night in prayer. Verses from the Quran were also revealed years before this battle took place.
